Lakewood LifestyleThe History of Lakewood

This community is often referred to as the instant city, due to the fact that in 1950 it was nothing more than a lima bean field and by 1960 it was a fully functioning city! The community started out as a place for veterans and aerospace engineers, since then the community has grown but has not lost it’s neighborhood touch.Location

Bordered by Long Beach to the west and south, Bellflower to the north, Cypress to the east, Cerritos to the northeast, and Hawaiian Gardens to the southeast, Lakewood is centrally located near the 605 Freeway and major streets including, Del Amo Boulevard, South Street and Bellflower Boulevard.
