Keller Williams Red Day 2011Keller Williams Realty’s “RED” Day 2011 is May 12, 2011

RED Day (Renew, Energize and Donate) is our initiative dedicated to celebrating Keller Williams Realty’s year-
round commitment to improving our local communities. Each year, on the second Thursday in May, tens of
thousands of associates from across the United States and Canada participate in a wide range of projects,
devoting our time to renewing and energizing aspects of the neighborhoods in which we serve.

Our (Keller Williams Coastal Properties, (My Office)) RED Day event this year is to support the non-profit
organization, Adopt A US Soldier. Their website is www.adoptaussoldier.org. Adopt A US Soldier is a non-
profit organization that seeks volunteers and donors to help show the brave men and women in our military
that their sacrifices will not go unnoticed. It connects supportive civilians with deployed soldiers and offers a
channel by which to communicate, encourage, and express gratitude to those men and women serving in the
US Armed Forces.

There are several ways that you can help this organization and our RED Day event:

1. Go to their website and adopt a soldier! www.adoptaussoldier.org. Follow the links to adopt your soldier,
and in a day or so you will get an email from the organization with the information on the soldier you
have “adopted”. You will get specific information: name, branch of service, email address and mailing
information, along with a personal note from the soldier, who tells a little about themselves, what they
like to do and their interests, and a list of items that they would love to receive. (note, this list is usually
pretty short as they don’t ask for much. One young man entered on the website “No requests, just don’t
want to be forgotten”). You will then initiate contact with them via email, and depending on where they
are and what their situation is, they will respond back to you as quickly as they can. Then it’s up to you
to keep the correspondence going. You can also gather up the items on their list and send to them. The
website will give you specific mailing instructions, and the postal service has a $13.95 flat rate shipping
program. They love to get emails, and they also love to get “snail” mail too – letters, cards, whatever. It
doesn’t always have to be a package.

2. If you feel that you can’t adopt your own soldier, then you can help us collect items that we can send
to all the ones we’ve adopted. Personal hygiene items, socks, tee-shirts, candy, books, dvd’s, magazines
(yes, even back issues because they don’t care they just want to keep in touch), snacks, candy … well, you
get the picture. We’ll make sure we have collection boxes for your donated items. We’ll be set up in the
parking lot during RED Day so that you and others can bring in donations.

3. Contact local businesses and ask them to participate with donations. Tell them they can bring items to the
office on RED Day, including cash donations, or we can pick items up from them. Tell them that we’ll give
them recognition on our blog!

Our Office is located at 6621 E. Pacific Coast Highway #150, Long Beach, Ca (Almost at the border of Seal
Beach)

Also, remember May 21st is Armed Forces Day.
